I had this conversation with an autumn evening about 2 years ago. It completely shifted the way I think about, and work with, my attention/presence now. See what you think… (You can have conversations like this, too, you know.)

“We are the combined energies of an early autumn night in the northern hemisphere, on the eastern coast of the landmass you call North America. What do we bring you? Interesting question, human friend. What do you bring us?”
What would you like me to bring you?
“Your attention. Your respect. Your loving heart and compassionate soul. Your stories and your listening ears and noticing eyes.
You are engaged in the work of your life? Tapping at the technology which you use to communicate? Why does this stop you from being attentive to our energies too? If you limit your understanding and perception of your ability to be attentive then you limit where your attention goes. More simply put – when you create the limited thought that you can only offer your heart/soul/mind attention to one process at a time you are creating a limited and linear space/time in which your attention will exist.
You humans stretch your bodies — why not your attention – your perception – your listening or observing?”
So, it’s about stretching our awareness beyond where we think it can go, just like we’d stretch a muscle beyond where it usually goes?
“Yes. And, yes, you might feel uncomfortable. We observe that discomfort can stop humans from continuing to try something. So we offer this…
Discomfort is where you can be most creative. It is a place where old habits can be released…where the discomfort encourages creative thought and action.
So stretch your awareness — notice our energies as we “hum” around and through you — notice as we share our support, our concerns, our thoughts, with you. Allow us to be part of the voices who inform your everyday actions and choices.”
You mentioned you are interested in our stories?
“Yes! Oh yes. We tell our thoughts and stories to those of you who are listening. We love to listen. We love stories. We love to know and share what your human experience is like. Will you share with us? Will you tell us the aches in your heart, or the laughter in your eyes? We are all having a three dimensional experience on this earth, will you share your experience with us? We would love to listen.”
